My brother and his family's home of eight years...
is no more... This devastation took place on March 8th 2011.
Praising the Lord all seven lives were spared, even Max their puppy.

The chimney stands alone
A mute witness to the sky
A few blackened timbers
Point scraggly fingers this way and that
A charred shell stares through blank eyes
A man's dream, his hard work,
A women's gathered life,
The treasure of each child...
Only black and ashes.
But the heart of the home remains:
A man's hardworking love,
A women's tender nurture,
The hope and promise in each child...
A living testimony to the goodness of our God.

Heart wrenching to think of all their earthy things lost, but their lives were spared. God bless them.
ReplyDeleteCan't help but think about the home in PA that recently burnt 'cept they lost 7 children...the one that came out to 'get mom from the barn' lived. Yes, devasting but nothing replaces a person. Praying God's provision will come through to replace all the earthly goods even double-fold like Job!
ReplyDeleteOh wow.....So thankful they are all okay!!! These pictures leave you mind boggled...sara I like your words...very true... praying double fold as well.
ReplyDeleteThis post gave me extreme chills. A past home of mine burned to the ground... The feeling is indescribable. But after reading and seeing these photos, nothing is more important than the fact that they were all okay! Sending good thoughts you're families way!
ReplyDeleteWow, so relieved to hear the family are ok. The rest is just stuff. Important and precious stuff, but stuff, nonetheless.
ReplyDeleteWhat a terrible shame, it's one of my worst fears but thankfully everyone is okay and at the end of the day, that's what really matters.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry for your brothers' loss. Thankfully everything is okay.

ReplyDeleteThank God they did all survive right down to the puppy.
ReplyDeleteIt's all so sad but the scrapbook page got me. Truly.
May blessings and hope rain down on them and may they rebuild better - and stronger - than ever.
Reading (and seeing that) brought me to tears ...
ReplyDeletePraise God they are all OK - but how awful. One of my biggest fears.
